Web 2.0: Social media something something

Some people have never learned properly to “live” life and interact with others “in real”, totally living (in) their “social media” status. It seems as if they completely lack emotional intelligence, empathy and the simple feature of caring about others that comes from the heart. Rather than using the web  to enhance communication, people tend to turn into fantasy worlds, cutting themselves off reality.

“Encounters” simply consist of mere “business connecting”.

They are disabled to be authentic, because they have forgotten, or even never have learned what that is.

I try not to be swallowed by the hype, or joining the row of morons that define themselves by the “likes” a photograph of them on facebook gets.

Social media should be used to enhance (certain parts of communication, and you can learn every day how to use them the most effective way, but they should not replace your life.

Recently, I met someone who was neither enganged on facebook or twitter, nor did he care about the currently hyped thousand apps, and was actually a great pleasure to talk to. Apparently, the lack of social media in his life did not prevent him to be connected to the brightest heads of the “web scene”.

So, guys, don’t take all that social media stuff too serious. There is a life waiting for you, live it.
