Part 3: JOHANNES MUNDINGER, ULTRAMOODEM, LISA WASSMANN

ART VILLAGE x BERLIN FESTIVAL 2012: Johannes Mundinger

1.Who are you, what are you doing and what does your artwork stand for?
I will refer to Oliver Breitenstein, director of the Berliner Kunstverein (Münster) to answer this question:
“Slowly I got the impression that every material was used and the most profane material was fitting perfectly. In the best case paired with a banal theme, like for example as used in the „boogerpaintings“. Was this dealing with denial of playing a part in sublime perception of art with a bloated, theoretical superstucture? Did just the mere joy of creating stand in the center, without considering how the posterity would receive it? Did the artist pick his nose, just to finish the last traces of the grey mass in my head as dessert?“

I am Johannes Mundinger, co-founder of the streetart crew xXcrew, studied in Münster and Brussels, live in Berlin and like to paint walls in turcois.

2. What are you going to do at the ART VILLAGE?
In dialogue with the visitors of my hut at ART VILLAGE I am going to portrait each counterpart of me in a huge format, so that my work is consisting of steadily growing series of portraits. The focus, however, will not be on „portraying“ reproducts of faces, but on the participative aspect and ist expressive. I am going to create pictures through impressions ans associations which I will gain through the conversation.

3. What is your next project after the ART VILLAGE?
The ART VILLAGE ist he last station of my fully packed event- and travel-summer. I am going to take a break afterwards. Maybe a visit to the Color-Revolution, Chemnitz or the Sichtbeton Wandmaltage in Dresden, but nothing big planned for now.
