Josefin Winther – Raising Armies Album Release Tour
Residing in Reykjavik, 25-year-old Josefin Winther, travels a lot
between her mother country Norway and her home city Reykjavik.
In winter and spring 2011 she has been promoting her second full-length album, named „Raising Armies“, which has included singing live on a national TV-show with 700.000 viewers. The album was released digitally worldwide on February the 14th 2011, and the critics said:
The inspiration from PJ Harvey has never been clearer. The way the
vocals works its way around the arrangements, starting from the opening song „I‘m coming home“, proves that Josefin is a clever song writer, that knows how to create resistance in even the simplest of note rows.
In the tremendous „The Beginning“, Winther glides effortless from
authoritativeness to being so sore that she almost vanishes into air. –

Since the release of her album, Josefin has visited Bergen, Oslo,
Trondheim, Berlin and Reykjavik, to promote the album. The single
Horizon was played regularly on national radio station P3. The music
video for the second single, Trend, was recorded during one night in IKEA in Reykjavik. The director Íris Stefanía Skúladóttir, is also the designer of the albums cover art. The third single The Beginning
was released in July 2011.
In 2006 Winther released her debut EP on Geir Luedy’s label Your Favourite Music. On her debut album “Be proud or stay out
of it” (2008), the critics named her “Norway’s reply to PJ
Harvey”, “Bergen’s own Patti Smith” and “a rising star in the pop-rock-sky.” The new album took nearly two years in the studio,
interrupted by a 3 months break, where producer Kristian Fanavoll Tvedt, was hospitalized.
Spring 2011 Josefin Winther signed a publishing contract with German label AMV Talpa.
