ART VILLAGE x BERLIN FESTIVAL 2012: 44flavours

1. Who are you, what are you doing and what does your artwork stand for?
Hello we are Sebastian Bagge & Julio Rölle of 44flavours.
At ART VILLAGE, we are working with our friend, artist Clemens Behr (Interview: Clemens Behr).
44flavours stands for an art and design duo from Kreuzberg (Berlin). We work with playful typography, collage, intsallation and assemblage. We currently like to work with wood, old windows, glas, paper and other low priced material you can find and
experiment inside spaces.
We certainly paint a lot as well, regarding the style it is going into the direction of naive painting and is rather abstract. Our works are inspired by Bauhaus, Dada, pop art and the nouveax réalistes from Paris of the 60’ies.

Clemens is famous for his installations made of paper and roof battens. Nowadays, he also likes to work with wood and plexiglass. He often installs his works in public space and lets them grow with their surroundings.

2. What are you going to do at the ART VILLAGE?
We are going to build a oversized face, maybe a whole head for ART VILLAGE, we are not sure yet. This face shoould have a big beak, a hat and a collar with a necktie that is a bow tie as well.
We are going to use roof battens and OSB plates, which we are going to paint two-dimensional, colourful. Some wooded elements we will leave unpainted, so the structure of the compressed wood are coming through, that will make a nice contrast to the full, gaudy coloured surfaces.

In the ideal case, the installation shall be five meters tall. Please keep your fingers crossed that weg et a ladder that is long enough :)

3. What is your next project after the ART VILLAGE?
After the ART VILLAGE, we (44flavours) will hold a workshop for children at the Kunstherbst at the DHM (German Historical Museum).
