“In the heart of Berlin, at the foot of the Kreuzberg, we founded Mother Recordings, a record label full of warmth, home to artists whose hearts beat for the true house and disco sound, full of passion and love for the music. We think a label should be more than the name on a cover. That is why the same sweat and lifeblood we leave in the clubs of Berlin, of Germany, and the rest of the world is now fueling Mother Recordings.”
“Our little family of ambitious music maniacs is standing at the beginning, innocent still in our infancy, ready to fearlessly set off on a big adventure. Why? Because we know she will be there for us, the mother, her arms wide open, offering protection – Mother Recordings stands behind us with this special mother’s love that is made to last forever.”
“We celebrate the birth of the mother with „I wanna be high & St ay EP“, the
debut of Mother Recording’s first son. Nhan Solo, who delivered the summer
killer disco t une „Our Thang“ of 201 1 , ardently loved not only by Solomun.
Mother001 is no kindergarten, it’s disco house at its best”
A1: I WANNA BE HIGH (ORIGINAL MIX)
Nhan Solo’s interpretation of Faith no More’s “Easy” is catchy right from the beginning, because the original got loads of love in the 90’ies – a good choice of sampling. First heard at a party at Prince Charles, the chorus “I’m easy like Sunday morning” and the underlined new melody and beats make this track to the perfect song for an afterhour session and the line “I wanna be high, so high” make it danceable after all.
A2: I WANNA BE HIGH (ADRIATIQUE HOW LOW MIX)
Adriatique – Adrian & Adrian from Switzerland is a team that caught my attention not only since the corporation with Thyladomid. The How Low Mix is climbing up the charts already!
The mix is calmer, also setting the vocal into the spotlight, but keeping the track darker than the original. I am not into pitching the voice down, but it works for this one. House does not have to be light, and these guys show us why.
B1: STAY (FRITZ ZANDER REMIX)
SUOL’s Fritz Zander did the remix for the second track on this EP, “Stay”. Zander emphasized the beats with constant snares like the original track, so you stay in the rhythm and added accents to the melody that keep you “on (the) track” literally. Preferring the embedding of the clear vocal line, but not that fond of the keyboard tunes.
B2: STAY (ORIGINAL MIX)
This track has quite a few old school elements like clapping that mingles with a minimalistic bass line. Very disco, very danceable.
