Luca Lozano – Need Nothing EP
Luca Lozano, one of the founders of Klasse Recordings created one of my all time favourite EPs: Heaven and Hell (Re-edit).
Need Nothing is the first single from Luca Lozano’s forthcoming debut album ‘Life in Black & White’. ‘Need Nothing’ is going to be Luca’s fourth release on Klasse. Remixes come from Portico Quartet and one of my favourites: Sacha Robotti!

Track by Track Review
A1. Luca Lozano – Need Nothing
Beautiful intro, slowly emerging to a powerful dance track, even though I am not really sure if I like the vocals on this one, but it is surely a track that might be played in clubs quite often. The track is bearing the trademark signature of Luca Lozano, a soft beginning, a unique vocal (sampling), some pretty danceable beats rounding it up to a deep, warm track for the dark dungeons of the clubs. Nice one!
B1. Luca Lozano – Need Nothing (Portico Quartet/Keir Vine Remix)
What promised to be an interesting track in the beginning, did not fulfill the expectations soon afterwards. The rearrangement of the vocals is absolutely horrible. Portico Quartet’s Keir Vine chopped the voices into what sounds like constant hickups. Created was a track that you cannot listen to longer than a few seconds. Maybe it is because I did not like the vocals that much in the first place, but I felt it was not pleasant to listen to. Considering that Portico Quartet won a Mercury Music Prize nomination with their 2008 album ‘Knee Deep In The North Sea’, this was a big disappointment. Maybe it will work better on the dance floor.
B2. Luca Lozano – Need Nothing (Sacha Robotti In Love Remix)
Seriously, I like this remix of the original the best. The bassline that Robotti adds is just the right one to create a smooth yet booty shaking rhythm. Very much liked.
Opinion:
Luca Lozano’s full length album is long awaited, and this teaser track of the upcoming release is raising the expectations. Keep an eye open for the next release of Klasse’s Lozano!
