On Berlin’s Record Store Day#1, you got the opportunity to purchase a copy of the latest Exploited release:
The first vinyls (exclusively at OYE record store) of Andre Crom & Martin Dawson’s limited-to-250-copies “Need You Back” EP were for sale for music lovers. Homework did the remix, so this was the first vinyl purchased that day :)
Listened 2: Andre Crom & Martin Dawson – Need you back (Exploited)
Andre Crom, head of OFF Recordings and Martin Dawson did a fine collaboration here: The melody consisting of 7(to 8) notes, repeated throughout the song is catchy, you want instantly to hum along, move to the flow of the track. The vocal line “Want you back, need you back” might deliver the message; considering the title, the forcing tone of the voice and the from time to time damped melody loop will let you imagine being in the position of a lonely lover.
Homework: The duo does show off their own style in their remixes. This one does make the track to their own one, bearing traces of the fun, light house beats; fans of lighter house music will love their remix. stylistberlin prefers the remix to the original.
Four stars.

After their recent success with their latest remix for Homework’s track “I’m Into This” on Exploited which has been holding a strong position in the Beatport house charts for the last 3 months, Andre Crom&Martin Dawson suggested to make a guestrelease on Shir Khan’s Berlin imprint Exploited. Here it is: A peaktime oldschool house roller with a kicking remix by Homework. Already highlighted on BBC Radio 1 (Pete Tong Show), Solomun, Axel Boman, Round Table Knights, Hot Chip and dOP.
Martin Dawson has been absolutely smashing it for the last 12 months, with some very successful releases and collaborations with some of the best labels in underground house and tech including Cocoon, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, 2020vision, Off Recordings, Moodmusic and Pets. Notably his Sunday Smoking album released late last year was a huge success, with a number of charismatic, melodic house and deep tracks aimed at the dancefloor, as well as some beautifully crafted downtempo soundscapes more fitting with a lazy sunday afternoon.
Andre Crom’s coproductions with Martin Dawson „Gonna Be Alright“, „In the City“ or „About You“ were instant hits on Decks, Beatport and Resident Advisor as well.
