Listened 2: TRICKSKI – Good Time To Pray EP

0 Comments 07 November 2011

Good Time To Pray is my absolutely favourite track on the UNREALITY album. Having Axel Boman and Tom Trago remixes means that the track isn’t that bad received by fellow producers. stylistberlin liked the Soulminority remix the best, though.

01. Good Time to Pray feat. Ernesto (6.47 / 115 BPM)

Absolutely my favourite track on the album „Unreality“ – Starting right off with vocal humming and a strong beat, this track takes you everywhere you want to be! Around 0.55, the background melody loop reminds me a bit of my favourite track by Format:B (Bootcut from the Steam Circuit Album). When Ernesto begins to sing around 1.30, you fall in love with the beats, the melody and you cannot help but sing along: „Wind is sweeping us away / winter’s creeping closer / and it’s getting colder (…) A Good Time To Pray“ or humm along the background vocal.

“Even though this track is a slow house banger flying deep under the normal house head radar of 125bpm it still doesn’t loose it’s pace” (Couleur)
A great work, Trickski can be very proud of this one. Five stars.

02. GTTP feat. Ernesto – Axel Boman rmx (7.56 / 121 BPM)

You do „hear the fingerprints“ of Axel Boman on this one. This remix, getting thumbs up from Yannick Labbé, is putting the spotlight on te voice. He ommitted loads of the humming, stripping the track to the basics. What left is the voice of Ernesto, and the basic beats, faster than the original. Minimalistic, electronic impression. A bit too minimalistic, but working very well all in all with the element arrangements.

03. GTTP feat. Ernesto – Tom Trago mfb522 rmx (4:56 / 122 BPM)

Tom Trago’s remix, favoured by Daniel Becker, has an even more minimalistic touch. Cutting down the refrain „Good time to pray“ to „Good ehm“ was a little bit irritating. Ernesto singing to the beats in the background, without a meldoy – these parts were emphasizing the voice, but maybe a bit difficult to work as a „whole track“ at these points, IMHO. Nevertheless, you can sense what a great remixer Tom Trago is, when you pay attention to the arrangements of each element. In the end, a very good job done here, ready to play.

04. GTTP feat. Ernesto – Soulminority rmx (8:37 / 115 BPM)

Favourite pick. Absolutely love this remix. Stays in the 155 BPM beat, but still doesn’t lose the touch of „movement“ in it. Maybe it’s the Spanish roots of soulminority, maybe this dj/producer just goes with the disco flows of the time – this remix will be played more often on the floors than you will know. Rocking. Thumbs up to Barcelona!

05. GTTP feat Ernesto – Tom Trago Extended rmx (7.27 / 115 BPM)

Sticking to the original arrangements when it comes to the beginning of the track. Like this remix a lot. This remix is perfectly saving the original form, but adding the spice to it. Prefer this to his previous remix, even though the original remix might have taken longer to make.
