An unwritten law in ‘the scene’ is that you keep quiet and do not talk about any negative thing. Or you try to keep very diplomatic. Critical approach is not so welcomed.
One of the reasons why the scene in Berlin sometimes seems to suffer stagnation.
One of my personal favourite producers in house music and an artist I admire once taught me a lesson at Panorama Bar:
“If someone says ‘that party was good’ then it was shitty. You always say it a level better than it actually was, you know. So if it was massive, it was okay, if it was amazing or incredible, it was good. That’s how it works. So if someone asks you about a gig, never tell them it was just ‘good’ even if it was. Say it was ‘super’ ;)”
So if you would say a gig was ‘shitty’ it was probably the worst gig you ever attended.

I wish for 2012, that everyone can be more honest about a release. Not every production, garment, piece of art is good just because your ‘homies’ made it. Honesty will raise the quality of production sooner or later, I do hope.
