It seems like yesterday that Homework (Exploited Records) did their debut at Panorama Bar, and ever since they are producing really good stuff. Zip Stolk and Tom Waist just did a wonderful remix for Andre Crom and Martin Dawson, for example. On 2 Nov 2011, I purchased the last copy of the Hudson Square pressing by the duo at OYE Record Store in Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg. It seems I had loads of luck as the copies were limited and the vinyl version is not available on the market any more. WOW.
Today, Zip Stolk and Tom Waist were playing at the new Club Gretchen as headliners of the SMILE Party (Sat, 12 Nov 2011) and went afterwards to Ritter Butzke for the night of their “mother label” Exploited, where the new crew members from Exploited, Cocolores, were just delivering a very good set. Memorable track: Robosonic’s “The Sweetness” (J.Phlip did a great job on the remix, adding her dirtybird style to it) – Manuel Garay and Jason Heath were having fun playing, and the crowd took over their vibes it seemed; the floor was rocking!
As always, it was a pleasure to meet the guys and catch up as it had been a little while since their last gig at Cookies, since they are always polite and wiser than their young age would reveal. BUT. Even while talking about “tomorrow”, I didn’t realize – it was TOM’s BIRTHDAY!!!
Dearest Tom,
Happy, happy birthday – gefeliciteerd! Wish you loads of happiness, health and even more success with Homework for the upcoming year of your life! Keep on rolling & Lucky Strikes!
All the best and loads of sunshine!
Liefs,
