I love Robosonic and I love Laura Weider. I am so happy to finally hear the outcome of Laura’s world record! Thanks to Cord Labuhn and Sacha Robotti for making this track so special!
Laura’s story:

On a summer weekend in August 2010 during the crazy lifetime of the original Berliner Bar 25, the pianist LAURA WEIDER challenged herself to a particular kind of concert in the circus.
This concert was witnessed as the „Longest Concert of a solo artist“ (held until then by the Canadian musician GONZALES of Kitty-Yo) and subsequently made it into the Guiness Book of World Records.

Cord from ROBOSONIC managed to record the whole concert including the atmospherical sounds made by the the pianist and the public alike. With that material he joined forces with Sacha, the other half from ROBOSONIC, to create a new original piece of work: „Feldrecord im Zirkus“ (translated this would mean something along the lines of a mix between „Field recordings“ and „world record in the circus“).

The sounds created by LAURAS fingers remind of a long trip over the ocean or a flight through space. Without a beginning or an end, the melodies interweave into a piece which takes the listener on a journey into far-away worlds of the soul. The piano tones mingle with witty dialogues, sleepy silences and wasted partying so typical for the Bar 25, depending on the time of day or night. By the way: LAURA managed to stay awake entirely without the use of colourful pills or artificial stimulants – only juice, nuts and the love from her supporters made her last.

After extensive listening sessions to pick out the best parts from the mad 40 hours of recorded material, the Kreuzberg- based DJ & producer duo ROBOSONIC manage to distill the memorability of the world record in the Bar 25, the vibe of those euporical moments and the final countdown into a club track of 7 minutes length!

„Feldrecord im Zirkus“ will come with remixes by Bar 25’s NU and the Berliner duo CHANNEL X, as well as a more evil B- Side named „No Moral“, on OLIVER KOLETZKI’s label Stil Vor Talent in January 2013 (vinyl + digital).

I am sure now you all miss the Bar 25 days…

Track by Track Review

A1. Feldrecord im Zirkus
Absolutely loving this – you can hear Laura Weider’s dreamy and wonderful melodies out of the beats. Reminds me of her phantasy-illustrations (yes, she is an illustrator, too) and maybe a little bit of Ana Somnia, too. It is light, soft and payful and will be played a lot the upcoming summer 2013!

A2. No Moral (Robosonic)
Hell yeah, Robosonic’s finest signature – the guys are back with their distinguished sound! This time, more developed, the typical Robosonic playful sounds mixed up with bouncy synths and stronger vocal than ever! It is exciting to see the guys growing up, see them produce track after track that tops always the last release of them. A darker deep house track that is a bomb!

B1. Feldrecord im Zirkus (Channel X Remix)
Channel X, the humourous guys who were very sympathetic when I bumped into them ages ago at a party gave the original their signature – stripping it of the dreaminess, adding a playful beat and making it a bit clubbier. Wow, wow, wow – they manage to add a suspense to the track that will rock main times in the clubs!

B2. Feldrecord im Zirkus (NU Remix)
NU omitted the playfulness of the original and made it gloomy, mysterious. He turned the track into the perfect afterhour track.

Opinion:

This is a unique release which will stand out of all the productions, just because of the history of the making of. It will be very hard to copy the steps that led to this wonderful production. The remixes of Channel X and NU made the release perfect. Thumbs up to Robosonic, who made this incredible track possible! All four tracks are so individually good, that it is hard to pick a favourite.
