0 Comments 03 July 2013

You might remember Shana, who I previously had the pleasure to meet for another project about a year ago: M4YP. She teamed up with Mike Pierce and Florian Stern to realize this awesome project: PHEW!

Their indigogo campaign is running till the end of the month and if you are into art and art projects, this would be a nice chance to get your own piece of limited artwok and support the artists:

Phew - Logo (Black)

Phew is original illustrations as screen printed posters, crowdfunded using Indiegogo.

●  Phew, a Berlin based team of art lovers, wanted to support and enable artists to create amazing things.

●  Phew handles orders, promotion, production and shipping, while artists are allowed to focus on creation.

●  As a start, Phew has commissioned six illustrators to create original pieces for crowdfunding campaign using Indiegogo.

●  Artists include Pat Perry (USA), Pierre Ferrero (France), Doppeldenk (Germany), Øivind Hovland (Norway/UK), Sharmila Banerjee (Germany) and Alexander Palmestål (Sweden/Germany).

●  Phew is asking contributors to pre-purchase screen printed posters of the illustrations, in order to fund production costs.

●  Proceeds from the crowdfunding campaign go directly to the artists involved, as well as towards building a new online platform presenting an ongoing series of poster editions and in doing so continue to support and enable artists.

Who is Phew?

Phew is a project by Australian expat Mike Pierce, German native Florian Stern and UK expat Shana Campbell, all based in Berlin, Germany. Carving out hours and spending hard earned wages from their day jobs, they’ve slowly crafted the idea of Phew from a sketch on a napkin to a fully fledged concept and are now ready to release it to the world. Crowdfunding using Indiegogo is just the first step in a long term plan to create a platform where artists are rewarded fairly for the contributions they make to culture and society, and for art lovers to get their hands on high quality, limited edition screen printed posters irrespective of budget.

What is crowdfunding & Indiegogo?

Crowdfunding is a term gaining in popularity in the last 5 years, and is the process of tapping into personal and creative networks and eventual customers to fund the creation and production of creative projects while bypassing traditional financial and commercial barriers. Indiegogo is one such platform, specialising in allowing anyone worldwide to set up a crowdfunding campaign, and offer rewards and perks in exchange for their belief and financial support in backing their project.
